Pro-4 Alliance celebrated

Race #1 ~ May 27th and 28th
The Northwest Pro-4 Alliance kicked off its inagural
season at South Sound Speedway in Tenino, Washington on
Memorial Day Weekend. The action began on Satuday, May
26th with qualifying, dashes and heat races. #5 Wayne Dillon
bested his previous track record with a 14.343 second lap. He
then went on to win the dash and heat race #1. Eddie Secord
won heat race #2 and #3 went to Steve Thompson. All of this
was in preparation for the 100-lap feature event on Sunday,
May 27th.
Saturday was a good
indicator as to who would be
fast come Sunday. When the
green flag dropped, Wayne
Dillon took the early lead,
looking to pick up where he left
off the day before. Unfortunately
he had to retire early due to a
broken header. This put heat
#2 winner Eddie Secord's #1
machine out in front. At lap 50,
the competition yellow flew to
allow drivers to refuel. Shortly
after racing resumed, the
mechanical problem bug bit
again and Secord was forced to
the pits, relinquiching the led
to #03 Steve Thompson.
Thompson held on to win
the first NW Pro-4 Alliance
feature event. He was follow by
Grosvenor in second, Kameron
McKeehan in third and Jeff
Jones and Kurt Madsen rounded
out the top 5. John Jackson, Kevin Koepke, Travis Allen, Johnny Rumsey and Kyle Stocker completed the top 10. Steve Thompson left South Sound Speedway with the points lead and will look to defend it next month at Stateline Speedway.
Race #2 ~ June 23rd
NW Pro-4 Alliance action resumed
Saturday June 23rd at Stateline Speedway in
Post Falls, Idaho. The dashes were won by
Jim Bailey and Bob Winker and heat race
wins went to Dan Madsen and Jeff Jones.
Kevin Koepke survived a wreck marred
25-lap last chance race to transerfer into the
30-car field main event. The main was
scheduled for 75 laps but things got off to a
slow start. Lap one saw a 5-car pile up that
involved many of the front runners and fast
qualifier Wayne Dillon. Near the halfway
mark, John Grosvenor took the lead from
Kurt Madsen. With 15 laps to go Steve
Thompson, winner from South Sound Speedway in May, began
closing in on the #72 of Grosvenor. That was until Jeff Bard running
in third and Thompson made contact and dashed their chances at
the lead, Thompson retired to the pits. At the line it was Grosvenor,
Kameron McKeehan and John Jackson. Fourth went to Dan Madsen
and Jeff Jones finished fifth. Jeff Bard managed a sixth place finish
followed by Dan Hale, Chris Yokham and last chance winner Kevin

Koepke in ninth. Travis Allan who was

the 3rd transfer from the last chance race

With his 12th place finish, Steve

Thompson fell to third in the overall

point standings. John Grosvenor with his

win and the second place finish at South

Sound Speedway took the points lead

followed closely by Kameron McKeehan.

What will the September 1st race as
Meridian Speedway hold for the NW Pro-4 Alliance series. Will the
front runners remain consistant and hold onto the top stops? How
about Wayne Dillon setting fast times in both the first two vents.
Can he go for the sweep? Will Thompson or Grosvenor repeat or will
the NP4A have a third different winner. You won want to miss this race.
Race #3 ~ September 1st
During Labor Day weekend, Meridian Speedway hosted its largest car count of the season. Thirty-three Pro-4 Late Models turned out for the Tates Rent 75. This was the final race of the inaugural season for the NP4A. This would be the race that decided the Championship.
The day began with qualifying. The fast 18 cars qualified for the
75-lap feature event. The remainingcars would race the B-Main with
the top four transfering to the A-Main Event. #55 Kale Freedman
won the Rocky Mountain Towing fast time award. Trophy Dash wins
went to #68 Jim Bailey and #20 John Jackson. Heat race wins went to
John Jackson, #44 Kevin Koepke, #41 Matt Wolfkiel and Points
Leaders #72 John Grosvenor.
The racing that took place in the B-Main would prove to be a
preview to the action that would follow in the Main Event. At the
halfway point of the B-Main it looked as if #13 Brad Carpenter would
runaway with the #1 transfer spot. However, a yellow flag bunched
the field back up and the #20 car of John Jackson had worked the
outside line through the field and would pass Carpenter for the lead
when the field went green. At the checkers, the four transfer spots

went to John Jackson, Brad Carpenter,

#40 Pat Young and Kevin Koepke.

Twenty-three cars started the 75-lap

main event, the 23rd starting position

went to the #4az car who got in on the

longest tow provisional. On front row was

#83 John Peterson and #10 Jeff Jones.

The race would get off to a slow start.

First a missed shift on the start caused an accident, all were able to continue and the race was restarted. Before the second lap could be completed a nine car pile occured in turn 4. Several cars sustained damage and the #41 of Matt Wolfkiel was forced to retire to the pits. With all the jitterbugs out, the drivers settle in their groves and put on a thrilling race from that point on. There was a great deal of side by side excitement throughout the field. Peterson held onto the lead for quite some time before 6th place starter #29 Ron Rohde started showing his strength and began picking off cars and moving to the front. Points leader John Grosvenor battled with #41 Kameron Mckeehan, second place in points, for the 4th position. It looked as if Grosvenor had a strong enough car to come out with a finish high enough to win the Championship but suddenly on lap 26 he pulled to the infield, a result of a mechanical failure.
With 35 laps to go, Ron Rohde put his car to the outside of Peterson to take the lead. Rohde pulled away from the field and despite having to work through lapped traffic gained a respecful cushion. Peterson and McKeehan then put on the show. McKeehan used the lapped traffic to get around Peterson on the outside for second but Peterson took it back on the inside with the help of the same traffic. A late race caution set the stage for a 7-lap shootout. Rohde still maintained a comfortable lead due the 6 lapped cars between him and second place. The final seven laps showcased clean side by side battles throughout the field. At the line it was Ron Rhode, John Peterson, Kameron McKeehan, Jeff Jones and Kale Freedman. Matt Melby finished 6th and John Jackson came home in 7th claiming the Rocky Mountain Towing Hard Charger Award. Jim Bailey, Kenny Chandler and Pat Young rounded out the top 10.
Ron Rohde became the third different NP4A winner in as many races. Kameron McKeehans 3rd place finish gave him enough points to surpass Grosvenor to claim the inaugural Northwest Pro-4 Alliance Championship. Grosvenor finished second, Jeff Jones came in third and John Jackson and Kevin Koepke came in 4th and 5th for the season. The remaining top ten were Matt Melby, Wayne Dillon, Dan Madsen, Dan Hale and Steve Thompson.
