Powers and Bailey Team Up For 2008 Summer of Excitement SeriesBy Bob Coply
Dec. 13, 2008 – Mike Bailey and Rob Powers both of Meridian, ID have announced their intentions of running for the 2008 Northwest Pro4 Alliance and Meridian Speedway Late Model Lite 2008 Titles.
Bailey will provide his #6 Ford Taurus to Powers for the Alliance Shows, while Powers will drive his own #2 Ford Fusion for the Late Model Lite races at Meridian Speedway. This will be a real undertaking never seen before by anyone race team in the Meridian Speedway class.
Powers is a past Meridian Speedway Rookie of the Year and won two features in 2007 while Bailey is working closely with Steve Mulder at Mulder Auto Machine for the big horsepower it will take to run up front with the Alliance regulars.
John Spencer of Pacific Movers is by far the “moving force” behind this effort to win two championships in one season as he will sponsor Powers as they make their attempt at racing history.
The Northwest Pro4 Alliance is a series that has brought the top three four-cylinder late model groups in the country together to produce big fields of cars, exciting competition and major exposure for everyone involved.
Meridian Speedway is located in Meridian, Idaho and is home to the Late Model Lite class that field 14 to 16 of the best four cylinder late models. Running a twelve race season on the tight quarter mile oval this class has produced such drivers as 7 time champ Ken Chandler Jr., Jim Bailey, Joe Barton and 2006 and 2007 champ Kale Freedman just to mention a few.
Now the Meridian Speedway fans and staff will have to wait and see if Bailey and Powers can pull off a double championship in 2008.
